Origin

Anaheim TMR is a named line of the Anaheim, or New Mexican, chile, with TMR standing for tobacco mosaic resistance. The Vegetable Cultivar Descriptions compendium records two such lines from Petoseed in 1975, Anaheim TMR 23 and Anaheim TMR 24, both open-pollinated New Mexican types resistant to tobacco mosaic virus, with straight, smooth pods; TMR 23 is noted for a wide shoulder and TMR 24 for a tall plant. Tomato Growers Supply sells it simply as Anaheim TMR without the number, so this record keeps only what both lines share. The shop describes pods 7-1/2 by 2 inches, deep green turning red, on tall, productive plants, 75 days, moderately pungent, for canning, freezing or drying. No seller publishes a Scoville figure for this line; the range shown is the one UF/IFAS gives for the Anaheim type, 1,000 to 5,000.
