Origin
Sweet 100 is named for the trusses, which routinely carry a hundred fruit each on plants that will run to ten feet if allowed. Bred by Northrup King of Minnesota, now part of Syngenta, it was the sweet red cherry standard before the orange hybrids arrived, and it remains the highest-volume producer most gardens will see. Its successor Super Sweet 100, bred for a fuller disease package, is what most catalogues now sell under a similar name. The skins split easily after heavy rain.
